Arena Rascal Pro
Overview
Features

Profile Blade Attachment
ABI’s patented Profile Blade attachment is an innovative subsurface cutting blade that works similar in concept to a sod cutting blade. This attachment cuts parallel to the arena grade, while riding along just above the base, to remove dangerous compaction layers and aerify the footing. With the Profile Blade attachment, there are no longer hidden dangers under an otherwise smooth looking surface! The Profile Blade attachment ensures that what the horse and rider see on the top surface, is also what the horse feels when his hooves penetrate into the footing material! This new level of safety helps to reduce vet bills and ensures productive time in the ring, as the horse will be more attune to riders cues, instead of unseen dangers below the surface.

Ripping Teeth Attachment
The included adjustable rippers may be temporarily swapped in to give the Arena Rascal Pro the teeth for tough work. The ripping teeth are adjustable from 0 – 7″ to get to the bottom of the most demanding jobs, even potholes! They enable the Arena Rascal Pro to be used to maintain gravel driveways, parking lots, prep seedbeds, maintain trails, maintain food plots & so much more! The rigid design, and angle of penetration into the ground, delivers exceptional aggressiveness not matched by any other ATV tool available. The tips are replaceable for reduced maintenance cost.

Pivoting Rake
The rear rake pulverizes and breaks up clumps of material and leaves a beautiful signature finish behind in the arena. By adjusting the rear manual jack, the Arena Rascal Pro’s 1/2″ thick hardened-steel-rake, can pivot up to 90° into a variety of finishing and grading positions. This adjustability enables the rake to pulverize clods of material, level and finish no matter the material consistency. This functionality enables the Arena Rascal Pro to beautifully groom and even renovate horse arenas. Outside of the arena it can grade gravel driveways, repair washed-outs, leave a perfect uncompressed seedbed, and even break-up manure lying on the pasture. The rake is replaceable in one foot sections to reduce maintenance costs.

Patented Wheel-Lift System
With the Arena Rascal Pro’s patented wheel-lift system, the operator is in complete control! Without the wheel-lift system, pull behind implements are uncontrollable. The system is operated with a standard manual jack on top of the Arena Rascal Pro. Turning this jack raises and lowers the wheels, which in turn, raises and lowers the frame and ground contact points. This system may also be operated from the seat of the tow vehicle with the optional electric actuator (as shown). The wheel-lift system serves 3 purposes. First, it enables the tool to be lifted off the ground for easy transport all around the property. Second, it allows the operator to gauge or control the max depth of penetration into the surface. When the surface is extremely hard, the wheels may be raised “out-of-play” to allow the full weight of the tool to be placed on the ground contact components for more aggressive penetration. Third, when the wheels are all the way down, and the frame is lifted into the air, this allows for easy swapping out of underbelly components such as the ripper teeth and profile blades.

Large Stabilizing & Transport Wheels
The large 16.5″ tall x 8″ wide tires are a critical part of the patented Wheel-Lift-System” and serve four important functions. First, they allow for quick and easy transport, over most any terrain, even at moderate speeds to get around the property quickly. Second, they stabilize the Arena Rascal Pro from pitching side-to-side ensuring consistency of grooming depth, the width of the unit, especially when maneuvering tight turns. Third, they enable the Arena Rascal Pro to “float” on loosened or wet material to minimize “sinking” into these soft material situations, which otherwise would alter grooming depth. This is a common problem for most competitive groomers. Forth, they gauge or control how deep the ground contact components go into the ground and hold a consistent grooming depth. When it come to tires, size matters. The taller and wider the tire is, the more stable a pull behind implement will be. These are high quality wheels with replaceable hubs, spindles, and bearings for long service life. These are not cheap caster wheels like are found on many competitive ATV tools.

Ground Contact Pitch Adjustment
The turn-knuckle on the top of the Arena Rascal Pro is designed to enable adjustment over the angle in which the ground engaging components come in contact with the ground. This adjustment allows the operator to control the pitch of the profile blade or ripping teeth for a variety of applications and soil types. This feature is also a very handy, no tools required, way to adjust pitch for varying tow vehicle hitch heights.
Advantages

Commercial-Quality Construction
At the core of the Arena Rascal Pro is a welded main frame built upon 3″ x 3″ tube steel. The frame is fully welded, except at pivoting joints, for rugged and long lasting service life. Options

Electric Actuator
This industrial grade actuator is powerful, rugged and finely tuned for easy operation of the Rascal from the seat of the tow vehicle. It is most commonly used to lift the tool for transport, raise the tool for tight turns over areas you do not want to disturb, to cut-&-fill grade material, and to set the depth of the ripping teeth or profile blades. While grading is possible without additional options, we HIGHLY recommend this electric actuator to control the wheel-lift system from the seat of the tow vehicle. This option greatly enhances the effectiveness and efficiency of the Rascal for “cut-&-fill” grading and spreading applications. It includes all hardware and wiring needed to attach to a 12v battery and has a very convenient handlebar mounted controller. This controller enables easy operation while keeping both hands on the handlebars of the quad, ATV or UTV. An optional wireless remote controller is also available. A manual crank jack is standard.
Wireless Remote For Actuator
The wireless remote upgrade works with any ABI actuator purchased after June 1st 2013. Now you can control the Rascal’s wheel-lift-system from almost anywhere. Our wireless system has 2 key chain, all weather sealed, remote controllers for use with multiple tow vehicles or multiple operators at the same job site. This complete wireless kit offers easy plug-&-play installation.

3-Point Conversion Kit
With the ever expanding popularity of the sub-compact and mid-compact tractor market, ABI is proud to offer a 3-point option that converts the standard Rascal for ATVs and UTVs into the ultimate 3-point tool for small tractors. As most experienced land owners know, 3-point tools are more efficient and effective than pull behind tools. Now Rascal owners, that also own the 3-point option, have the choice between the convenience of a pull behind tool or the efficiency of a 3 – point tool all in one piece of equipment. Perhaps the most innovative aspect of this option is that in under 1 minute the user may swap between a pull behind tool for ATVs or a 3-point tool for tractors with no tools required. This amazing versatility for one tool to work with both ATVs and tractors is ideal for land owners that prefer to use a different tow vehicle for varying jobs. The Rascal 3-Point option brings Profile Blade Technology, ripper teeth and a pivoting finishing and grading rake to the small tractor market at an affordable price. This option fits existing Rascal models that have a removable tow bar tongue. Compatible with both category 0 and 1 3-point hitch types for tractors under 35 horse power.

Rail Blade
The rail blade attaches to the frame with a large pin. The shovel cuts into the built up material along arena walls and rails and pulls it away, saving the user time and effort.

Mini-Box Blade
The Mini-Box Blade gives the ABI Arena Rascal Pro extra earth-moving muscle and unmatched versatility. Paired with the optional electric actuator, the operator can quickly and effectively level/grade an arena or driveway, collect loosened debris & rocks, and fill-in low areas in pastures! The serrated box edge is ideal for gravel and soil materials. The mini-box even enables the establishment of a crown on a gravel driveway when used on the current design Rascal with an adjustable wheel block.

Arena Rascal Pro 4.5 / 980cc 4×4 atv. Just received machine yesterday. Assembly was simple and straight forward. Quality of build looks excellent. Took 2 hrs. each to resurrect two Class I sand full size dressage arenas. We had just been using a chain tine drag for years. Compaction got the better of us. I am very pleased that it took only 2 hrs each to break up that “concrete” under footing. Now it is nice and soft. I’m g0iong to guess that it may take 30-45 minutes to do a “routine” maintenance, if the ring is empty of jumps. Since most all parts are put together with removable pins, there is a certain amount of benign rattle. You do need a 4×4 ATV if you are going to do any heavy work (driveway maintenance or resurrecting a compacted arena. Routine regular maintenance probably does not need 4×4. 5 MPH seems to be best speed of pull. I didn’t try the flat blade My job was initially too tough. I also used quite a shallow angle of attack for the ripping teeth. This thing is doing the job we needed it to do.

Perfect. I spent 2 days with a backhoe loosening 1/2 of my indoor and degrading. I purchased an Arena Rascal Pro and did the other 1/2 in less than an hour and, it did a better job. I love this tool. Note: you have to have a powerful enough to macho e. Be sure to listen to the sales teams advice.

The Bees Knees. Love this implement. It works great on our regulation size dressage court. And even in our round pen. You get the footing you want without exception. The engineering and the build is just perfect.

2 weeks later: In preparation for adding MagCl I worked the footing again. This time I did use the profile blade. It was again a bit of a difficult pull the first time around. I think I was cutting off the ridges left by my first resuscitation working with the ripping teeth.Second time around it pulled just fine. The footing was very soft and smooth. I do think I can and will use the profile blade for subsequent workings and reserve the ripping teeth for repair if ever the need (or perhaps my drive). I am very pleased with this purchase. Please note the wheels are really only for transport. The rake on the back is truly the depth gauge.

I usually never leave reviews for products but it took me about 6 months to make up my mind on which arena drag to buy that I figured I would try to help others make a quicker decision. First I researched 7 different arena drags from different companies I will not name them to be fair but if you start looking for a drag you will come across them in your search. 4 of the brands were much cheaper then the TR3E 1 about the same price and 1 more expensive. I didn’t want to spend a ton of money but also didn’t want to spend money on something that just didn’t work. So for my review of the TR3E It is a excellent piece of equipment. I use it to do so much stuff around the farm and the house. It works better then I thought. I do think it has one down side though and that would be it takes some time to set it up properly and get use to how to use it. Its not a set it up one time and use it for everything kind of tool. For instance if you have it set up to use in sand or dirt arena and try to go and use it to prepare a lawn, if there is any gra

Works well but you need to put warning on the receiver that it will lift when you release the latch other then that it works well

This is the BEST!!! And made in the USA! First off- its made in the USA, which is very important to me. We just bought a place with dense clay soils and had deep dried tire ruts that it thought would be permanent features of the area in front of my barn and where that I had hoped to put in an arena. So bad you couldn’t walk across the area without tripping at some point. Additionally, the gravel driveway and road to the house were washboarded to the point that 5 mph was almost more than you could do. I looked around at a number of similar products and was unhappy with all the negative reviews… but in every place I looked, someone always said ” Don’t waste your money on a DR or whatever- spend the money and get ABI” So, fast forward to now- I bought the ABI Arena Rake. The customer service and sales team are absolutely the best! Answered all my questions, gave good advice, checked to make sure I’d be able to use it for what I wanted (happily my Grizzly is plenty strong enough to handle the work). The shipping was quick, the assembly was quite easy, everything

Best Investment! We purchased the 5.5′ Arena Rascal Pro in June of 2016. We had just purchased a new property and needed a space to ride and only had a quad to pull. After working with sales rep Casey, we decided the 5.5′ was the perfect fit. It allowed us to dig up a spot until the arena got put in. It is the perfect drag for the now established arena with new footing and since it has the capability to turn into a 3-point drag we not it will continue to serve its purpose for us as our farm grows and we buy a tractor. No job has been too big or too small for this drag! We used it to rip up and level the area around our house to plant new grass seed, ripped up a round pen area, and smoothed out the gravel in the driveway all behind just our quad. This is the most versatile piece of equipment and it does an amazing job! This drag will dig through any ground even just behind a quad! It’s balanced and strong!

Holds up! This Rascal has performed for 10 years! Only issue is top link is locked in place because, never used for anything but dressage arena maintenance, never had to adjust the link, but a new one is not expensive or difficult to replace. Have had no maintenance issues at all! Beautiful ridges left and even my trainer commented on the arena footing. My arena is M-10 filings, so a little dusty in dry times, but Rascal can still leave a pretty pattern. just not so much dimension to it without adequate moisture.

Absolutely a Must Have!!! This is the most useful piece of equipment! We use it for our large round pen(150 ft) and it does the work of a much larger machine! We have the 7_ ft. model and use it behind a utv. Can easily maintain 3_” of dirt for our cutters and cowhorses. With the profile blade we have far less sore horses then with drags that leave uneven grooved or ridged subsurfaces. Have used it to break up packed sand arenas and maintain the driveway. Easy enough for anyone to use. Ours is used very regularly and after two years shows no wear. MONEY WELL SPENT!!

Works well but I would like to have roller on the back instead of the rack I need a little compaction

Best money I ever spent. Great product

Rake rookie with very little experience and no familiarity with the Rascal Pro, I cut it off of the pallet, turned a few bolts, and pulled all of the pot holes out of my 200 yard long gravel driveway. Pure awesomeness.

The best you can get for the investment ! We have our horses borded at an English barn just outside of Atlanta GA. We have an OTT Thouroghbred that absolutely loves the English discipline. He has got EPM from grazing in the pasture, and this has created a big problem for him durrin training, he has become very tender footed and has started to loose his muscle masses in the hind end. After watching several videos and hearing several testimonials of how well the arena rascal pro worked for working the footing in the arena and how much easier it was for the horses while working we bought one. I assembled it when it arrived and started playing with the different functions that it had, I pulled it through the arena with my UTV and was ABSOLUTELY FLOORED at how many HUGE rocks it pulled up just the first pass around ! As I continued to RIP and work the dirt it drug up SEVERAL more rocks varying in size from golf ball to softball sized rocks! The first time I used it was the most labor intensive do to the rocks that were having to be removed from the rake, but after the rocks were all up

Thought I’d shoot you a note and let you know how very happy I am with my little Rascal! I’ve used it enough times now to know that it’s going to do everything I wanted and then some. I am SO glad I got the electronics for it! Highly recommend that. I’ve taken it through my lava rock infested, concrete hard (anyway it seems so) pasture and it’s even loosening up the rocks so that I can then go around and pick them up. Trying to get at least a rock free track around the property. I’m so impressed with the heavy-duty quality of the unit. Super happy it’s made in the USA! PLEASE don’t have them built anywhere else! I’m not a professional horseperson by any stretch of the imagination. I’ve simply got a small acreage and manage it the best I can. I do try to buy quality products to help me out and I think this is going to be one of the best purchases ever. Even my husband is impressed and that is not an easy thing to do! Tell the workers who make these they are doing a great job and from me – a heartfelt thank you for them doing such a great job. It’s so good to see a great made in the USA product. Hopefully we’ll see more of that in the future 🙂

Rascal pro arrived this morning. Easy to set up. Really liked the instructional videos you sent. Just finished using it for the first time. Scarifiers really broke up the compacted corners. Worked well beyond what I expected. Thank you, Arena Rascal Pro.

I don’t leave reviews on anything, but I am definitely going to for this piece of equipment. We bought a property that used to have an arena years ago, the ground was packed and covered in Koshia and thistles. I bought this to go behind our ford jubilee. We mowed the weeds and hooked up and started tearing the arena up. All I can say is wow this replaces a disk, harrow, and any other drag you can own. It broke through any thing with ease. I drug the arena in 3rd gear as deep as she would go never bounced just worked the ground perfectly. As far as customer service goes outstanding. If your hooking onto a small tractor buy the 3 point it’s worth the extra money. Our roping arena is perfectly level and the perfect depth couldn’t be happier.

I worked with Casey from the beginning and he was wonderful!! The drag was for a nonprofit so it was a long process as it was being purchased with a grant. Casey was so patient and stayed in contact for over 4 months. The entire process was easy and stress free! The arena rascal pro is amazing and easy to use. I highly recommend!!
