Materials such as grade-5 bolts, greaseable bearings, oil-impregnated bronze bushings, heavy-duty size 60 roller chain (nearly 1″ wide), T-Rod apron chain, and hardened sprockets ensure longevity. You can judge a spreaders materials and components quality by its overall unit weight, the heavier the better. The ABI spreader weighs nearly 1/3 more than equivalently sized competitors spreaders. How Often Should I Grease the Bearings?
Grease all bearings every 10-15 hours of operation, or monthly during heavy use.
ABI makes this easy:

Key Fact: Regular greasing is the single most important maintenance task for extending spreader life. ABI’s design makes it practical enough to actually do.
What are some basic spreading best practices?

How long should I let my pasture rest after laying down manure?
The duration of time a pasture should rest after the last application depends on the local environment. Hot and moist areas and seasons should “extend” resting periods. A rotational grazing routine provides the best opportunity to spread on recently “rested” portions of pasture land. An eco-balanced pasture or paddock reduces parasites, increases vegetation growth, increases rotation rates, and reduces odor and flies around the farm. ABI’s optional “Fines” or “Pasture” pan is required. For the ultimate in paddock health, spread composted manure.
Can I spread on a pasture or paddock?
Yes. Any spreader used on pastures or paddocks requires advanced features that shred, control flow, and evenly spread on the ground. ABI spreaders do all that and more, fitting perfectly into your rotational grazing or pasture rotation routine. One of the best things you can do is spread a light shredded and pulverized manure application to “resting” pastures or paddocks. Do this early on long sunny and dry days to allow it to dry quickly. Allow the pasture area to “rest” for at least a couple of weeks before allowing livestock to graze again, reducing the possibility of parasite exposure.
What type of manure can I spread?

What does a PTO manure spreader do differently than a small spreader?
A PTO spreader is powered by the tractor’s PTO system, allowing consistent spreading regardless of ground speed. Larger capacity also reduces the number of loads required to cover a field, improving efficiency and timing.
